Where they live
Quirehaven
Quirelings live in Quirehaven, deep in the quire, the fold where a book's pages are stitched together. From there, unfinished stories glow faintly, like lamps left on in distant windows. Whenever someone has a new idea, a small light appears, and a family of Quirelings sets out to follow it home.

The Quirelings
Long ago, the old scribes noticed something strange. Pages left on the desk overnight were found in the morning with tiny questions in the margins, an inkwell nudged, a corner folded down to mark a place. They blamed the mice.
It was the Quirelings.
